Food & Catering Your Wedding Your wedding is a great social gathering filled with happiness and joy and of course food and beverage. Here are some things that you need to think about before you proceed with your Banff wedding. Discuss the different menu options: Most Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise Restaurants, Hotels and Catering companies have a selected menu to fit wedding styles. Decide if you want to have a reception before with food, before the dinner or if you would rather just go straight to dinner. Do you want it to be served or would a buffet do well. What about diet restrictions or preferences like a guest that maybe vegetarian or have religious food requirements. You can also ask to visit the establishment for a tasting of the choosen menu to make sure it meets your needs. Discuss this in advance. Beverages Laws and requirements: Alberta Liquor laws are simple. Any one 18 years of age or older may consume alcoholic beverages in a private or licensed establishment. All hotels and Restaurants are licensed, but will usually require you to consume the beverages provided from their establishment. These establishments may allow you to bring your own beverages, but will charge you for this service ask each establishment about their policies and costs. Any other location like a private hall will require you to purchase a liquor license that will be valid in that establishment for a specific amount of time. Inquire with the establishment. Do not consume any alcholic beverages outside the establishments or this will give you an opportunity of paying the Government of Alberta with a hefty fine. Make sure your needs meet your budget: Don’t allow yourself to get caught with spending more than you can afford or you will certainly regret it later when the bills start to come in. Decide what you can afford and how many guests will be invited accordingly. Remember that you will be required to guarantee the amount of guests. The biggest cost is usually in beverage consumption. Your reception bar may be open one hour before dinner and closed during dinner with a bottle of red and white on the tables. This will taper your costs. If you can afford it go all out and order the Dom Perignon for a Champagne toast!!! Extra Services: Table Linens, Flowers, Decorations, all these will be decided by you prior to your big day. Make sure the services you need are arranged and have been taken care of with the establishment or caterer. As with extra services there are extra costs in supplying and placing of flowers, table linen, placing of name cards etc. Do not forget that Food & Beverage will automatically place a 15% to 18% gratuity on the total bill. You should also think about giving the other service providers of linen and flowers a gratuity for their staff that works so hard to make your wedding look great. | ||
