So your booking your hotel, venue, photographer, DJ and videographer. Did you know you can’t get married unless you have an official marriage commissioner.

In the Canadian Rockies we have a great selection of commissioners as well as churches ( priests are also officials)  and you just need to pick the right person for your ceremony.

The months of May till October are the busiest for all wedding big or small so it’s important that  you book them in advance. Discuss if you are having a rehearsal and want them to be there as well and if they have suggestions on how the flow should be. They’ve done many types of wedding so can advise couples on what works best.

Your wedding day is here and uncle Bob says he’ll drive you around. First let’s really think about this. Uncle Bob is pat of your wedding, why make him work? Second, uncle Bob likes to drink a glass or two. Probably not a good thing while he drives you around. Now does uncle Bob know the area? What if he gets lost or is stuck in the middle of a snow storm? You got the point.

A professional company will make sure they have licensed chaffeurs with a transport license and the vehicles they use will be transport licensed and insured. The chaffeur will dress in a suit on your wedding day and be ready to take you to all the places that you will take your photos, video and places you might want to stop at for a quick snack! When you think of getting married in the mountains it usually means you want to have a view of the mountains. Some people like to have it in a hotel with a view, some right on location by the mountain side and others like to have a terrace wedding, possibly  attached to a hotel. Why is this a good thing to be attached to a hotel you ask? Well depending on the time of the year ( most terrace wedding are summer) if the weather gets say a little funky and the clouds start to roll in you can always have an alternative to the terrace making it easier to keep everyone together. Do remember there will be an extra cost to keep another room available for your backup plan , but it’s your special day and paying for that extra should be worth it so that it all goes well.

Lake Louise is located in Banff National Park and is a Canadian Treasure that many couples find not only beautiful , but peaceful and ideal place to have a ceremony or a full wedding.

Whether you want to have your ceremony right on the side of the lake or at one of the splendid hotels, you’ll never forget the energy that the location fills you with.

Two Jack Lake is a favourite spot for couples looking to get married by a mountain lake with views all around. Located in Banff National Park towards Lake Minnewanka it’s easy to get to and has a parking area. A short walk down the path to  a few different view points to have an intimate ceremony.

Lake Louise is located in Banff National Park and is famous for it’s beautiful glacier fed lake which lies below mountain peaks first climbed by the Swiss mountain guides brought to the area in the late 1800′s. It’s a very popular destination for wedding ceremonies. A hike or sleigh ride around the lake is a must once you get out there. Visit the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise when your there for a cocktail in the lounge over looking the lake.
